Notes:

As I said on AO3, the title was originally, “Bye, Bye Beautiful” (no, not named after the Nightwish song of the same name), but because this title had no real personal meaning to me, I changed it to something I felt suited the character better.

I originally saved the notes for adieu/au revoir for the Marie Antoinette chapter of this piece, but since it’s in the title, now, I put it into the first chapter.

The rewrite lost quite a few words; if you read the original work, you may notice an entire “character” is missing from this story, and...just trust me when I say it was for the best that I get rid of them. To make up for it, I added more characters.

As to other things that were changed... The original had tone issues that I fixed by just...rewriting the beginning. I took out entire paragraphs and added in new ideas. André’s green eyes are now brown (though this is a change in almost every rewrite, even if I haven’t mentioned it) because manga André > all.

Also, the concept of individual heavens was made very clear. I’m pretty sure the original work made heaven “light” for a reason (André’s blindness, so they wanted things to never be dark for him again), but it was kind of a vague concept and some of you know how much I love The Five People You Meet in Heaven, as well as some of the ideas presented in The Lovely Bones, so...I’m sure I had at least one of those books in mind when I wrote this story the first time, if not a fusion of both. Hence, André’s heaven.

Basically, the original was a decent concept/framework, so I kept what was good about it and threw everything else away.
