Daisy Chains and Pinky Promises | Tales of Symphonia
Fandom: Tales of Symphonia
Words: 1,325 words
Summary: It was almost time, and therefore inappropriate to reminisce, but he couldn’t help himself.
Pairing/Characters: Lloyd/Colette, others mentioned
Extra Info: This was originally written and posted on June 19, 2008 for Queenie Z. Her prompt was “wedding.” The original was 709 words long.
Rating: G
Genre: Wedding fluff, naturally.
Notes:
The original fic had the wedding take place in a church, which made for a great visual ending with them running out of the church, her shoes left at the altar, but that was all it offered. So I scrapped it for something I felt was more Colloyd-like: an outdoor wedding in the center of town. The idea of these two dorks getting married on a perfect spring day just feels Right. (Also, I like the idea of a slapped together country wedding like this; it feels right in the context of the wedding being in Iselia.)
I think the original story had some good ideas but ultimately the structure of it was too broken up and didn’t suit. I decided to keep the idea of past/present flip-flopping but switched back and forth less and let the past memories be of the same scene instead of different ones. The original was SUPER disjointed and therefore disorienting because I kept flipping back to different scenes, some of which were only a line or two.
The original also didn’t include mention of any of Lloyd and Colette’s friends, which was a crime. I really wanted this to feel like this was something their friends would make time for, to show their support, even the busiest of them.
There isn’t really a serious point to this ‘fic, it’s just supposed to be cutesy fluff for these dorky characters. <3
If you remember the original, I’m so sorry. -_-
